Indonesia to Continue Deliberations on Asset Confiscation and Labor Bills During Recess

The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has decided to continue deliberations on the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) and the Labor Bill (RUU Ketenagakerjaan) even during the current recess period. This policy was announced by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, also known as Kholil Iskandar, signaling the parliament's strong determination to enact these bills swiftly. The Asset Confiscation Bill aims to confiscate illicit assets obtained through corruption and crime, and is expected to strengthen anti-corruption measures. Meanwhile, the Labor Bill is anticipated to comprehensively review the labor market, including worker protection and job creation. Continuing deliberations during recess is a measure to expedite the bill enactment process and is presumed to aim for efficient coordination with relevant parties and public opinion consolidation. However, the key focus moving forward will be whether sufficient discussion and public consensus can be achieved on these bills, which are of significant national interest.
