Vietnam has launched its 2026-2029 Youth Health Program, aiming to enhance young people's health knowledge, capacity, and access to services. Special focus is placed on mental health and minority groups.
Vietnam has launched the "Vietnam Youth Health Program" for the period 2026-2029 in Can Tho City. This program aims to enhance young people's knowledge and capacity regarding health, and to improve their access to friendly healthcare services, enabling them to make healthy choices for themselves. Particular attention is being drawn to the mental health of children and adolescents as they increasingly engage with social media. The program emphasizes the importance of mental healthcare and seeks to expand related service provision to address this challenge. Furthermore, efforts will be made to strengthen cooperation for improving the health of women and youth within Vietnam. Specifically, contributions are expected towards improving mental health support for ethnic minority youth in Lai Chau Province. Vietnam is facing social challenges alongside its rapid economic growth. Disparities in access to healthcare services, particularly between urban and rural areas or due to economic inequality, have been noted. This program is positioned as part of the government's initiatives to address these disparities and create an environment where all youth can grow up healthy.
