Cambodian Defense Minister to Make Historic First Official Visit to Australia to Strengthen Military Cooperation

The Minister of National Defense of Cambodia, General Tea Seiha, will undertake an official visit to Australia, responding to an invitation from his Australian counterpart. This visit is aimed at further strengthening military cooperation between the two countries. According to a statement from the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense, the visit is scheduled from September 6th to 10th, 2026. This marks a historic first official visit by a defense minister, considered of significant importance in the history of Cambodia-Australia relations. During his trip, General Tea Seiha will lead a high-level delegation and hold bilateral talks with Australian Minister of Defense Richard Marles. Additionally, discussions are expected with commanders from various branches of the Australian military, alongside working-level meetings involving expert teams from both ministries. Key topics slated for discussion include the deepening of military cooperation across a range of areas, such as maritime security, cybersecurity, information sharing, military education and training, defense policy development, and regional security issues.
