Two Magnitude 5 Quakes Hit Off Balut Island, Sarangani

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported two earthquakes that hit Balut Island, Sarangani at separate times early Saturday, July 18. At 12:12 a.m, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake jolted 10 kilometers southwest of Balut Island. It has a depth of 17 kilometers, according to Phivolcs. Phivolcs said both earthquakes are aftershocks from the 7.8 magnitude quake off Sarangani and the 6.5 magnitude quake off Davao Occidental.
