Vietnam Strengthens ASEAN Role and Multilateral Ties as Chair

Vietnam is focusing on strengthening its role as ASEAN Chair, promoting regional economic integration and the digital economy. This initiative is expected to contribute to the realization of bilateral trade targets and support the digital economies of both countries. Recent reports indicate Vietnam's eagerness to deepen cooperation with Cambodia, particularly highlighting the potential for stronger cross-border e-commerce collaboration to become a new growth channel. This is crucial for reducing logistics costs, enhancing competitiveness, expanding market access, attracting investment, and fostering socio-economic development in both nations. Furthermore, Vietnam prioritizes its "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability" with Laos, viewing this relationship as an invaluable asset shared by both countries and their revolutionary causes. The positive development of its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Australia is also highly appreciated, with significant potential for cooperation identified in human resource development, science and technology, innovation, national governance, and sustainable development. In its Comprehensive Partnership with Canada, Vietnam welcomes Canada's strategic orientations towards the Indo-Pacific, including its support for ASEAN centrality and recognition of Vietnam's role as a gateway for trade with the region. Additionally, Vietnam expresses a desire to strengthen ties with Panama, noting the potential for both countries to serve as gateways linking ASEAN and Latin American economies. Domestically, the first extraordinary session of the 16th National Assembly is scheduled to deliberate on 31 items, including the adoption of 15 draft laws, four draft resolutions, five major issues, and the first readings of seven additional bills. This signifies Vietnam's commitment to advancing domestic development and reforms through legislative enhancements. Over its 31-year journey within ASEAN, Vietnam has transformed from a newcomer into a responsible, proactive, and increasingly influential member. This reflects not only deeper regional economic and foreign integration but also its emergence as a key driver of ASEAN's development, resilience, and global standing. The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) is emphasizing transparency, integrity, accountability, and openness in its operations, with a focus on managing and allocating donations as intended, allowing donors to track usage, beneficiaries, and outcomes, and enabling beneficiaries to provide feedback on relevance, fairness, and timeliness. These developments underscore Vietnam's efforts to enhance multilateral and bilateral relationships, aiming to play a more proactive and strategic role on the international stage.
