Cambodia Strengthens Cooperation to Prevent and Combat Human Trafficking in Labor Migration
Cambodia held a joint meeting with 43 entities, including government ministries, employer associations, and international organizations, to review the first half of 2026 and plan for the latter half, focusing on preventing and combating human trafficking within labor migration. Cambodia is strengthening cooperation to prevent and combat human trafficking under the guise of labor migration. On June 30, a meeting led by Secretary of State Seng Sakda, representing Minister of Labour and Vocational Training Heng Sour, was held at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training. The meeting reviewed the outcomes of the working group on labor migration of the National Committee for the Fight Against Human Trafficking (NCCT) for the first half of 2026 and discussed future directions. The meeting was attended by 43 members (12 women) from ministries, government institutions, employer associations, and international organizations. The objective was to review and evaluate the work achieved in the first half of 2026, discuss the draft report of the working group on labor migration, set work directions for the next semester, and strengthen cooperation among ministries, relevant institutions, development partners, and stakeholders in preventing, combating, and effectively responding to human trafficking disguised as labor migration. During the occasion, Seng Sakda stated that the meeting agreed on the draft report of the working group on labor migration for the first half of 2026, focusing on enhancing awareness, prevention, combating, and supporting victims of human trafficking, for submission and approval by the NCCT. Concurrently, the meeting participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue strengthening cooperation and coordination among stakeholders in preventing, combating, and promoting the effective implementation of laws related to human trafficking, labor exploitation, and sexual exploitation under the guise of labor migration.
