Cambodia's Takeo Province Halts 2 Unlicensed Construction Sites, Mandates Permits

The Daun Keo City administration in Takeo Province has suspended two construction sites operating without proper permits. The city administration is reiterating its call to citizens and construction companies to obtain construction permits from the relevant authorities before commencing any type of construction to avoid legal repercussions. This directive follows the implementation of legal measures by a joint force from the Daun Keo City administration on the morning of July 23, 2026. The force halted construction activities and confiscated construction materials at two unlicensed construction sites. The operation was conducted under the direction of Mr. Dim Kimsan, Governor of Daun Keo City and Head of the City Administration Command Unit. He assigned Mr. Sao Sophal, Deputy Governor, to lead the joint force, which included officials from the Departments of Land Management, Urban Planning, Construction, and Land, as well as police forces and the City Order Coordination Working Group. The two unlicensed construction sites were located in Village 1, Rokak Knong Commune, and Village Svay Chum, Baray Commune, within Daun Keo City, Takeo Province. During the operation, Mr. Sao Sophal stated that the Daun Keo City administration does not obstruct the development or construction activities of citizens. However, he emphasized that all types of construction must adhere to technical standards and possess proper permits to ensure safety and quality, maintain public order, and avoid impacting the rights and interests of neighbors. The Daun Keo City administration also affirmed that its technical teams will continue to inspect all construction sites within its jurisdiction regularly. Strict legal measures will be applied to any sites continuing construction without permits, ensuring that the development of Daun Keo City proceeds in an orderly, safe, and lawful manner.
