Lao Brewery Delivers Relief Supplies to Flood-Hit Provinces

Lao Brewery Co., Ltd. has provided relief supplies worth more than 600 million kip (approximately $30,000 USD) to families affected by flooding in seven central and southern provinces. On August 22, the company’s management and staff joined a government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Santiphab Phomvihane, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Khamphan Phommathat, and Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Phohsay Xayasone to deliver assistance to affected communities in Bolikhamxay, Khammouane, Savannakhet, Saravane, Champasak, Sekong, and Attapeu provinces. The relief package included 10,000 packs of 1.5-litre Tigerhead drinking water and 4,000 packs of soft drinks, aimed at providing safe drinking water and essential support to flood-affected families. Mr. Henrik Andersen, Managing Director of Lao Brewery, stated that the company considers social responsibility an integral part of its operations and remains committed to supporting communities during natural disasters and other difficult times. The flooding followed days of heavy rainfall caused by monsoon conditions and seasonal storms in early August, affecting communities, agricultural areas, and infrastructure in several parts of the country. In separate but related developments, a special task force from the Ministry of Public Security has arrested 139 people from four nationalities during raids on suspected cybercrime and online gambling operations in Xaysetha District, Vientiane Capital. The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has warned of possible flash floods and landslides in several provinces on September 1–2, 2026. Deputy Prime Minister General Khamlieng Outhakaysone, President of the Central Disaster Management Committee, led a delegation to Luang Namtha Province on August 31 to monitor the flood situation and provide guidance on disaster response. The Luang Namtha Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport announced the temporary closure of National Route 13 North from the Oudomxay provincial border to the Boten-China border following severe flooding and landslides caused by heavy rainfall on August 29, 2026. The Vang Vieng municipal road improvement project handover ceremony was held on August 30, 2026.
