Kampong Thom Military Operations Area Command Shares Latest Situation, Reinforces Duties

The Kampong Thom Military Operations Area Command (4th Military Region) held a meeting at its headquarters on the morning of September 21, 2026, to disseminate recent developments and reinforce the roles and responsibilities of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. The meeting was presided over by Major General Som Son, Commander of the Kampong Thom Military Operations Area, with the participation of officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers under the command, as well as commanders of several units, office chiefs, and heads of institutions. Major General Som Son briefed attendees on the latest developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border, as well as changes in some international and regional situations. He also highlighted the new progress in national development and the deep reforms within the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces under the wise leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, which are in line with the changing global context. The commander instructed all military personnel to be fully prepared for their mission of defending territorial integrity, in accordance with the orders of all levels of leadership within the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. He also emphasized the importance of participating in the deep reform plan of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, implementing military laws and duties, and strengthening the capabilities of the armed forces to further enhance our national defense. All military personnel must also strictly adhere to the law on the status and general discipline of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. Furthermore, Major General Som Son assigned significant tasks related to societal cooperation, urging a commitment to prevent, deter, and crack down on illegal natural resource exploitation. He specifically called for attention to combating illegal fishing, which is occurring despite the fishing ban, to restore fish stocks for the needs of the Cambodian people nationwide. He also stressed the need to protect state land that has been reclaimed during past operations, preventing further encroachment, and to ensure these areas are used for reforestation and the regrowth of natural forests for future generations.
