Top Performing Student Chooses Software Engineering in TVET Sector Amidst High Job Prospects

Ms. Choeum Keov Kav, a former top-performing student from Banteay Meanchey province, has chosen to pursue Software Engineering at the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) through the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. She was drawn to the field due to the high quality of education, competitive skills, and significant employment opportunities in the technology sector. Despite having numerous options for further studies and scholarships after passing her high school exams, Ms. Keov Kav decided to enroll at NPIC for Software Engineering. This decision was based on her research into the quality of training, modern learning facilities, experienced instructors, and positive feedback from former students. Ms. Keov Kav stated that her motivation for choosing Software Engineering stems from her passion for technology and a desire to learn how to create programs and systems that can solve everyday problems. She also highlighted the high demand for this skill in both domestic and international job markets, given the rapid advancement of the technology sector. She is currently benefiting from a 100% scholarship for her four-year program at NPIC, which has significantly eased the financial burden on her family. Initially, her family expressed some concerns about her choice of a challenging field like Software Engineering and her decision to study away from home. "My parents were a bit worried because this field is difficult and doesn't have many female students, but they still encouraged and supported me as long as I loved it," she shared. After one year of study, Ms. Keov Kav shared her experience at NPIC, noting that the curriculum is taught in both Khmer and English, and effectively combines theory with practical application, allowing students to develop their skills significantly. She encourages young people to bravely choose fields they are passionate about and that align with high market demand, especially in the technology sector, which plays a crucial role in national development.
