Cambodia Endorsed as Vice Chair of LDC Group for 2026-2029 Term

At the United Nations Headquarters in New York on September 2, 2026, Cambodia was endorsed as the Vice Chair of the Least Developed Countries (LDC) Group for the term of September 2026 to September 2029 during a meeting of LDC ambassadors. Ambassador Keo Chea, Cambodia's Permanent Representative to the UN, expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in Cambodia. He also commended The Gambia for its leadership and efforts in promoting the interests and priorities of the LDC Group during its chairmanship. Ambassador Kea Chea underscored Cambodia's readiness to work closely with The Gambia as the Chair and with other members of the office. The goal is to actively and effectively contribute to strengthening the collective voice of the LDC Group and to continue advancing its common priorities and interests. This includes preparations for the mid-term review of the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA), scheduled to take place in Doha in March 2027. This endorsement highlights Cambodia's growing diplomatic influence on the international stage and its proactive role in advocating for the rights of developing nations. Cambodia is expected to play a significant role alongside the Chair in achieving the common objectives of the LDC Group.
