Myanmar donates cash and food to flood victims in Nepal and China border areas

The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar donated cash and food to the people affected by natural disasters in the border areas of Nepal and China on September 2, by military aircraft Y8 from Yangon to Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu, Nepal. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Dr. Than Soe, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, and responsible officials traveled to hand over the donations. During the handover, Deputy Minister Dr. Than Soe stated that this donation is humanitarian assistance from the Myanmar government and its people to the people of Nepal, and expressed hope that it will lead to increased friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. He also wished for the speedy return of the disaster-affected people to their normal lives. Similarly, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of Nepal expressed his special gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided by the Government and people of Myanmar, and stated that these contributions will be effectively utilized for the benefit of the disaster-affected people. Subsequently, Deputy Minister Dr. Than Soe handed over a donation of US$500,000 and 8 tons of pulses to the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of Nepal. This donation includes 5 tons of green gram and 3 tons of chickpea, and is intended to meet the urgent needs of the disaster-affected people in Nepal and to assist in relief and rehabilitation efforts. It is understood that Myanmar has been providing necessary assistance in accordance with international humanitarian principles when natural disasters occur, and is cooperating to strengthen mutual friendship and humanitarianism between nations.
