Cambodia Strengthens Digital Safety and Mental Health for Women and Children

An awareness forum was held in Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia, focusing on the safety of children in the digital age and the importance of mental health for women and children. The forum acknowledged that while digital technology offers benefits, it can also pose significant risks to children if not properly guided and supported. The event, held on July 24, 2026, at Kiri Primary School in Mongkol Borei district, was presided over by Ms. Chut Dalin, a provincial council member and head of the Secretariat of the Provincial Committee for Women and Children Affairs (PCWCA). It was attended by local authorities, representatives from World Vision, officials from relevant ministries, and a large number of teachers and students. Ms. Chut Dalin highlighted that in the era of artificial intelligence and social media, children are the most vulnerable. She stated, "Technology offers many benefits for research and study, but it also carries high risks if children use it without understanding." She urged students to be vigilant about sharing personal information online and to guard against online scams and harassment. Beyond online safety, Ms. Chut Dalin also emphasized the critical role of "mental health" in determining the quality of life for women and children. She stressed the need to eliminate all forms of violence and create a warm, supportive environment with encouragement from families and communities to foster healthy physical and spiritual development. Student participants expressed their newfound understanding of online safety and learned methods for managing emotions and seeking help.
