Yangon, July 12 Thai authorities have arrested a total of 25 Myanmar migrant workers who illegally entered the country in Sangkhlaburi district of Kanchanaburi province and Cha-uat district of Nakhon Si Thammarat province, according to statements from the relevant Thai authorities. Around 5:30 AM today, July 12, a joint security force, acting on the instructions of the Sangkhlaburi district administrator in Kanchanaburi province, stopped and inspected a suspicious Toyota Revo vehicle heading towards Tha Phra Phun district from Sangkhlaburi. Upon inspection of the vehicle, six Myanmar nationals who had illegally entered Thailand from Myanmar's Payathonsu town without any passports or entry documents, along with a female guide and broker who transported them, were found and arrested. The six arrested Myanmar nationals included five women and one man. Thai authorities identified the transporter as Ms. Yin, who holds a non-citizen registration card and resides in Saiyut district. Currently, the six arrested Myanmar nationals have been charged with illegal entry and residence in Thailand without permission. They have been handed over to investigators at the Sangkhlaburi police station to further identify the human trafficking network, and a case has been opened for legal action. Similarly, in Cha-uat district of Nakhon Si Thammarat province, 19 Myanmar migrant workers who had illegally entered the country, along with five Thai nationals who transported them in three vehicles, were arrested by the Thai Highway Police. This operation was carried out by the Nakhon Si Thammarat Highway Police after receiving information yesterday, July 11, that illegal Myanmar migrant workers would be transported by vehicles from Chumphon province to Songkhla province. The Thai Highway Police waited near the village tract of Kokhan in Cha-uat district, at mile marker 346 on Highway No. 41. They were able to intercept and arrest a lead car that was clearing the route to bypass checkpoints, along with two black, tinted, enclosed trucks carrying the Myanmar migrant workers simultaneously. Upon inspection of the vehicles, 19 Myanmar nationals and five Thai nationals who had illegally entered Thailand without any legal documents were apprehended. Three vehicles and numerous mobile phones were also seized as evidence. According to interrogations by Thai authorities, the arrested Thai nationals confessed that they were hired to transport Myanmar workers from Chumphon province to Songkhla province for 7,500 baht per trip, and that they had made approximately three such trips. Currently, the 19 arrested Myanmar migrant workers have been charged with illegal entry and residence in Thailand without permission. The five arrested Thai nationals and the seized evidence have been transferred to the Cha-uat district police station for further legal proceedings.
