Indonesian Flag Bearers to Showcase Balinese and Batak Culture at Asian Games Opening Ceremony

At the opening ceremony of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Indonesia's flag bearers, Dewa Ayu Made Sriartha Kusuma Dewi (basketball, 27) and Daniel Hutapea (karate, +84kg), will wear special attire that fuses Balinese and Batak Toba traditional cultures. "The Balinese traditional attire is a part of my identity and culture, and it is an honor to be able to showcase it along with Indonesian culture on the Asian Games stage," said Ayu, whose outfit features gold embroidery inspired by traditional Balinese carvings and ornaments. Daniel, on the other hand, will wear attire incorporating elements of his Batak Toba heritage. "I feel pride and joy beyond expectations to be chosen as a flag bearer, and to wear an outfit with Batak elements," he stated. These flag bearer outfits are part of a collection titled "Harmony in Diversity," a collaboration between Ghea Fashion Studio and Sarinah, designed to showcase Indonesia's diversity. Beyond the flag bearers, the official jerseys worn by approximately 50 athletes during the parade, team apparel, and the Chef de Mission's (CdM) uniforms will also feature distinctive Batak Gorga motifs, traditional Ulos weaving, and Balinese ornaments. Ghea Fashion Studio, founded by designer Ghea Panggabean, is known for incorporating Nusantara textiles and cultures into its designs.
