A motor vehicle carrying donors who came to provide flood relief assistance from the Ayeyarwaddy Region, Hleqmyar Township, and Ayethapyu area, overturned between Nibbhan Village and Kamausuk Village, resulting in injuries to approximately eight people. The donor motor vehicle, which was bringing aid and relief supplies for flood rescue and assistance, overturned midway through its journey this morning, August 4th. Local joint teams immediately provided on-site first aid, and subsequently, local social welfare organizations transported the injured to the nearest hospital in a timely manner. The current flood situation in Hleqmyar Township is not an emergency situation where rescue is difficult due to sudden torrents of water from the mountains, but rather a situation where the water mass is gradually seeping and spreading into the low-lying villages due to the breach of an embankment. Furthermore, rescue and support teams from various regions, including firefighters, have arrived on the ground, and rescue team members have reported that current rescue operations are being conducted in a controlled manner. Therefore, one of the rescue team members informed the Ayeyarwaddy Times that donors and volunteers coming from afar should drive cautiously without unnecessary haste to prevent accidents during their journeys. Additionally, the local residents and rescue teams have urged that this flood disaster requires long-term assistance, and even after the water recedes, there will be much reconstruction work remaining. They have appealed to the frontline rescue and aid teams to provide assistance systematically and with adequate time.
