Vietnam's Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), known as Hội phụ huynh, are increasingly diverting funds away from student activities towards gifts and bonuses for teachers and school administrators. Reports indicate that some PTAs collect up to VND 5-6 million (approximately $200-$240 USD) annually, with the majority spent on occasions like Teachers' Day and holidays, rather than student excursions. This issue has resurfaced as the Ministry of Education and Training proposes new regulations to prevent misuse and excessive collection of PTA funds.
