Heavy Rains Cause Severe Flooding in Vietnam's Central Highlands

Severe flooding has affected multiple areas in Bao Loc city, Lam Dong province, following prolonged heavy rainfall. As of the morning of July 28, authorities were assisting residents in relocating their assets to higher ground. The downpour began around 9 PM on July 27, continuing into the morning of July 28, leading to substantial water flow from upstream into the Dai Lao and Dai Binh rivers. Low-lying areas, including tổ dân phố 3 and 16 in Bao Loc city's Ward 3, and tổ dân phố 16 in Ward B’Lao, experienced significant inundation. The rapid influx of water prevented many households from salvaging their belongings, resulting in considerable damage. Upon receiving the reports, local authorities mobilized military, police, and youth union forces to implement rescue and relief operations. In Ward 3 of Bao Loc city, over 70 households were flooded, with approximately 10 experiencing deep inundation. In Ward B’Lao, numerous coffee, durian, and mulberry gardens along the riverbanks were submerged. As of the morning of July 28, the rain persisted, and local authorities maintained personnel at risk-prone areas to ensure timely response to potential floods and flash floods.
