Cambodia Aquatic Sports Federation Elects Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol as New President, Renames Organization

The Cambodia Swimming Federation has re-elected Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who also serves as the First Vice-President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, as its president for the 8th term, which will run from 2025 to 2029. This decision was made during the federation's general assembly, which concluded the 7th term (2021-2025) and ushered in the 8th term. The assembly also officially approved the change of the organization's name from the 'Cambodia Swimming Federation' to the 'Cambodia Aquatic Sports Federation'. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol received 100% of the votes from representatives of the member aquatic sports associations and clubs during the general assembly, held in the main conference hall of the Council for the Development of Cambodia over the weekend. Attendees at the assembly included Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport Peng Ponea, Chairman and Co-Founder of Chip Mong Group Ly Hour, Deputy Secretary-General of NOCC Them Mon, and Director-General of Sports of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport Pon Sok, along with numerous other members. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol expressed his strong commitment to further developing aquatic sports. He announced plans to organize numerous competitions during the new term, including the Chip Mong Group Cup Swimming Championship and the new Mekong River Crossing Swimming Race. He also stated that as president, he would actively seek additional sponsorship partners to organize more events, identify talented athletes for the national team, facilitate overseas training for athletes, and conduct training courses for coaches and technical officials. The executive committee for the 8th term (2025-2029) of the Cambodia Aquatic Sports Federation will consist of 11 members, with Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol serving as president. The vice-presidents include Peng Ponea and Ly Hour, while Hem Kiri has been appointed as the Secretary-General.
