Vietnam Launches Anti-Drug Campaign for Workers

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has launched a nationwide campaign titled "Vietnamese Workers, Resolutely Say No to Drugs." This initiative marks a significant step in implementing the national drug prevention program through 2030, aiming to raise awareness and strengthen preventive measures against drug use, particularly among the workforce. This campaign serves as the kickoff for the implementation of Sub-project 4, laying the groundwork for the effective execution of the national drug prevention program's objectives. As part of these efforts, a roundtable discussion was held to explore strategies for enhancing the role of communication in drug prevention, fostering collaborative solutions. Past related activities include initiatives in Thanh Hoa province to foster collaboration with workers and employees, and a vibrant "Day of Bonding for Union Members and Workers" held in Da Nang city. These events underscore the commitment to protecting and promoting the legitimate rights and interests of laborers, while strengthening ties between trade union officials and their members. Under Vietnam's single-party system, national-led initiatives are common for addressing social issues, including drug control. As Vietnam continues its economic growth, its workforce is considered a vital asset, and safeguarding their health and safety is deemed essential for sustained development. Maintaining domestic stability and the quality of the labor force is also crucial for enhancing international competitiveness amid significant economic ties with China.
