Vietnam Begins New School Year: Top Party Leader Visits Ethnic Boarding School

Vietnam commenced its new academic year on September 5th. Mr. Tran Cam Tu, a member of the Politburo and Standing Secretary of the Secretariat, attended the opening ceremony for the new academic year at the ethnic boarding school in Bac Ninh province, joining teachers and students in celebration. On this occasion, opening ceremonies for the new academic year and the inauguration of inter-level boarding school facilities in border communes were held simultaneously across the country. Prior to this, a letter from General Secretary and President To Lam was sent to the education sector on the occasion of the new academic year (2026-2027). Vietnam, operating under a one-party system, views education as a crucial pillar for national development. The provision of educational opportunities, particularly in areas with significant ethnic minority populations, is prioritized to foster national unity and progress. Ethnic boarding schools are facilities designed to provide education to children in these regions, with the government focusing on infrastructure development and improving educational quality. The visit by top leadership underscores the high level of attention paid to education policy. As Vietnam continues its economic growth, there is a growing recognition that investment in education is indispensable for nurturing future human capital and enhancing international competitiveness. However, challenges remain, including addressing educational disparities and cultivating a workforce capable of meeting the evolving needs of society.
