Vietnam Taps Overseas Talent for National Development

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang stressed that Vietnamese expatriates maintain a connection to their mother tongue, which serves as a repository of childhood memories, culture, and the nation's soul. Building on this strong bond, the Vietnamese government is prioritizing the creation of practical mechanisms to leverage the expertise and skills of overseas Vietnamese for national development. Nghia, co-president of the Vietnam-Australia Scholars and Experts Association (VASEA) New South Wales Chapter, highlighted the importance of translating the spirit of resolutions into practical measures that enable overseas Vietnamese intellectuals to address specific development challenges. The meeting with Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tam, a prominent Vietnamese scientist in France, underscored the expectations for the contributions of overseas Vietnamese in science and technology. Vietnam is also focusing on developing its digital environment, working with international organizations like UNICEF to build a civilized digital space where children can learn and grow safely. This aligns with the Communist Party of Vietnam's push for comprehensive educational development, balancing academic studies with arts, sports, and foreign languages to foster an enjoyable learning environment. Furthermore, efforts to strengthen Vietnam-Japan relations are underway. Tran Trung Kien, Secretary General of the Vietnam-Japan Economic Cooperation Promotion Association (VJECPA), noted that Japan's strengths in technology, manufacturing, high-tech agriculture, digital transformation, and green industries align with Vietnam's development needs. This is consistent with Vietnam's approach to harnessing global knowledge circulation while nurturing national identity and responsibility amidst globalization. By enhancing engagement with overseas Vietnamese, the Vietnamese government aims to accelerate domestic economic growth and technological innovation, thereby elevating Vietnam's standing in the international community. This strategy represents a significant step towards achieving the long-term goal of national development under Vietnam's one-party system.
