Myanmar Traditional Boat Race Held in Tate Oo Township

It has been reported that Pan Ye village, Myo Taw village, Ta Pet Swe village, and Yoe Gone village within Tate Oo Township, Mandalay Region, jointly organized a Myanmar traditional boat race on September 6 and 7. It was also reported that eight teams participated in the race by rowing, and this race has been held annually alongside the Maha Shwe Taw Ton Pagoda festival for many years. "The boat race has been held since the time of our parents and grandparents, preserving tradition, and it had not been held for quite some time. It has now been held again. In the past, female competitors also participated and competed. It was very intense," said U Maw Gyi, chairman of the boat race team. It was reported that the boat race, held under the theme "Let's participate and celebrate, preserving the heritage and tradition of our ancestors," was organized based on the unity and traditional culture of the local residents from Tate Oo Township and Sin Koi Township. It was also reported that the prizes were set at 600,000 kyats for first place, 400,000 kyats for second place, and 300,000 kyats for third place.
