Vietnam Celebrates 81st National Day, Strengthens International Ties

Vietnam celebrated its 81st anniversary of National Day on September 2, with commemorative events held nationwide. In Hanoi, thousands of people visited historic and cultural landmarks such as Ba Dinh Square and Hoa Lo Prison Relic, reflecting on the value of independence and peace. Ahead of this significant occasion, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam, accompanied by his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, is scheduled for a state visit to Russia and an official visit to France, including attendance at the International Space Summit in Paris, from September 7 to 12. This underscores Vietnam's commitment to deepening international relations and expanding economic and technological cooperation. Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung urged Vietnam and France to maintain delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, aligning economic, trade, and investment cooperation with their potential. He also called for breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation, energy, aerospace, transport, and railways, alongside deeper collaboration in defense-security, healthcare, education-training, culture, and at the local level. Following 40 years of Doi Moi (reform), Vietnam has transformed remarkably from an economy facing severe difficulties, food shortages, and embargoes into a dynamic economy increasingly integrated into the global landscape. The government is currently urging ministries, sectors, and localities to clearly define tasks and key solutions, particularly efforts to achieve the ambitious 10% growth target for this year. Domestically, women in mountainous areas of Dien Bien province are leading economic development, preserving cultural traditions, and inspiring others to build better livelihoods. In Phu Dinh commune, Thai Nguyen province, tea production is thriving through modern farming techniques and OCOP-certified products, becoming a sustainable livelihood that boosts local economies. General Secretary and President To Lam has emphasized that the value of the Party's resolutions and directives must be measured by their ability to address practical problems and bring about tangible changes for the people.
