Cambodian Authorities Continue Raids on Online Scammers' Hideouts, Undeterred by Size Reduction

Cambodian authorities are continuing their resolute efforts to dismantle all hideouts used by online scam criminals, even if the perpetrators shift from large locations to smaller ones. This inspection was carried out on the morning of August 3, 2026, at two condominium locations providing accommodation, situated along Street 111, Boeng Prolit Sangkat, 7 January Khan, Phnom Penh. Mr. Nop Pha, Deputy Governor of 7 January Khan, stated that the forces of the Unified Command of the 7 January Administrative Khan, led by Mr. Teng Sothul, the Khan Governor, are continuing to inspect and resolutely crack down on technological system scams (Online Scams) within the jurisdiction. He further added that these administrative inspections, both in the past and recently, are pushing and creating conditions for all criminal groups to be fearful of the strict measures taken by the authorities, even if some locations inspected do not yield evidence of online scam offenses. It is worth recalling that any owners of collective accommodation rental locations who provide premises for criminal groups to commit offenses will face a fine of 4 million Riel per offender, not to mention legal penalties.
