MANILA, Philippines — The father of the teenager identified as the attacker in the Sept. 18 campus shooting in South Cotabato has been relieved of his post in the Department of Education (DepEd), agency officials said on Tuesday. Davao de Oro Rep. Maria Carmen Zamora gave the update during the House plenary discussion on DepEd’s budget. The firearm that was used in the shooting incident belonged to the father of the suspect. The DepEd said the official was relieved from his post to allow for an unimpeded investigation into the incident.
