A piece of fake news claiming Indonesian President Joko Widodo received a bribe of Rp700 billion has been debunked by Liputan6.com's fact-check. The circulated information, presented as a screenshot of an article attributed to Minister of ATR/BPN Nusron Wahid, falsely stated that the President received a substantial sum at his home. The screenshot, which appeared on social media platforms like Facebook starting last week, included a fabricated quote: "Nusron Wahid: I received a small bribe, President Joko Widodo received a large one from my subordinates, reaching Rp700 billion, delivered to his home!" However, Liputan6.com's investigation revealed that this screenshot is a doctored version of an actual article published by CNN Indonesia.com on September 17, 2026. The original article, titled "Unraveling the Mystery of Nusron's Whereabouts After KPK's OTT in the Summarecon HGB Case," focused on Nusron Wahid's movements following an arrest by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a bribery case related to the issuance of building use rights (HGB). Crucially, the original article made no mention whatsoever of President Jokowi receiving any bribe. Liputan6.com established its fact-checking channel in 2018 to combat the spread of fake news and promote media literacy.
