ASEAN Educators Convene in HCMC to Chart Future of AI-Driven Higher Education

An international conference focusing on the future of AI-driven higher education in the ASEAN region brought together educators in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Co-hosted by Van Lang University (VLU), the Education Malaysia Promotion Centre under the Consulate General of Malaysia in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Embassy of Malaysia in Hanoi, the conference centered on fostering sustainable impacts across ASEAN higher education through technology and collaborative innovation. The discussions also underscored the importance of responsible AI adoption and the role of ASEAN media in upholding trust. Notably, Singapore, set to chair ASEAN in 2027, plans to prioritize AI adoption and cross-border data flows. This signals a direction for technological integration and international cooperation in future education systems. Vietnam, under its one-party system, has achieved significant economic growth and has been increasing investments in technology. The application of AI in education is recognized as a crucial task for Vietnam in terms of human resource development and enhancing international competitiveness. This conference served as an opportunity to build a common understanding for improving educational quality and adapting to the digital era across the entire ASEAN region.
