Can Tho City Breaks Ground on Key Projects Ahead of National Day

Can Tho City, the central hub of Vietnam's Mekong Delta region, held groundbreaking ceremonies for several key housing and transport infrastructure projects on September 2, in celebration of the 81st anniversary of National Day. The implementation of these projects is not only intended to foster a vibrant atmosphere of emulation but also to demonstrate the city's firm resolve to achieve a breakthrough in its urban infrastructure. Among the initiated projects are two major infrastructure and education initiatives valued at over 72 billion VND (approximately $3 million USD). Additionally, the Ministry of Public Security has commenced a housing project for armed forces personnel in Can Tho. Furthermore, two wind power projects, with a combined investment exceeding 23 trillion VND (approximately $1 billion USD), have also broken ground in Can Tho, indicating advancements in renewable energy sector investments. This series of projects is expected to contribute to Can Tho City's economic growth and the improvement of its residents' quality of life. In particular, infrastructure development is crucial for enhancing logistical efficiency and attracting industries, serving as a foundation to support Vietnam's sustained economic growth. Under Vietnam's one-party system, Can Tho City is being watched as a model case for promoting the development of provincial cities. In recent years, the Vietnamese government has been advancing a strategy for decentralized economic growth, and investments in major cities like Can Tho are positioned as part of that strategy.
