Lin Thih Ha Company Threatens to Sue Online Post Creators Instead of Addressing Public Hardships
Mekong, July 1 Lin Thih Ha General Services Company, which is responsible for electricity distribution and retail sales in Taunggyi Township, southern Shan State, has issued a threat to sue individuals posting online instead of resolving the difficulties faced by electricity consumers. This was learned from a statement released by the company. The statement, titled "Announcement for the Public," was released on social media, and the company's Executive Director, U Nay Myo Aung, announced that those who post on social media will be legally sued. "They don't take responsibility to resolve issues like users' inconveniences, being defrauded, or poor customer service. Instead, they threaten the public using the law. They should be the ones making things convenient," said a resident of Eyethayar. When citizens shared their experiences of rude treatment by Lin Thih Ha Company while paying their electricity bills, the company responded with abusive language instead of addressing the public's concerns. Furthermore, the company has threatened to sue citizens who speak out, using the law as a pretext, for a case where a company employee absconded in Eyethayar, without taking responsibility to resolve it. "Yesterday, a citizen who went to pay their meter bill wrote about the poor service from the woman at the meter counter, and now this person named Nay Myo Aung is threatening in various ways online," said a resident of Eyethayar. "I went to pay my meter bill today. I spoke politely. The auntie at counter 2 and the young lady who issued the receipt both treated me very rudely. The auntie at counter 2, when I asked how much the paper was, shouted and said, 'I'm not that smart,'" a local resident wrote on social media. Lin Thih Ha Company was granted the business rights by the son of former military government minister Wanna Maung Lwin, and its Executive Director, U Nay Myo Aung, is reportedly from DSA 39, a source told Mekong. "Think about it, everyone. What is wrong? People are pointing out problems because they are inconvenient, but instead of considering what needs to be improved, they threaten to sue. This is not customer service," another citizen pointed out. Most social media users have commented that the company's weaknesses, such as electricity collection, overdue meter payments, and company errors, are the most frequently discussed topics on social media pages. Local residents who are electricity consumers are also calling for the relevant authorities to take action against Lin Thih Ha Company's response, which prioritizes its own interests rather than considering the public. #MeKongNews #PublicHardships #OnlinePosts #LinThihHaCompany #Threat
