The Cambodian Embassy in South Korea and the Gwangju International Residents Center (GIRC) in Korea have agreed to strengthen cooperation in education, culture, sports, community development, and people-to-people exchanges. The Cambodian Embassy in South Korea and the Gwangju International Residents Center (GIRC) have pledged to strengthen and expand cooperation in the fields of education, culture, sports, community development, and people-to-people exchanges. This commitment was made during a meeting on July 4, 2026, between H.E. Khuon Ponratha, Cambodian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, and his colleagues, with Mr. SHIN Gyonggu, Executive Director of the Gwangju International Residents Center (GIRC), in Gwangju, Jeollanam-do. During the meeting, Ambassador Khuon Ponratha expressed his gratitude and admiration to Director Shin and the GIRC for their attention, support, and facilitation for Cambodian citizens and communities in the Gwangju area. Concurrently, the Ambassador emphasized that the Embassy would work closely with GIRC and relevant institutions to enhance the welfare, protect the common interests, and create better opportunities for Cambodian community members living, studying, and working in the Gwangju area. Both parties also exchanged views on strengthening and expanding cooperation between the Embassy and GIRC in education, culture, sports, community development, and people-to-people exchanges, aiming to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries.
