Vietnam's Contributions to ASEAN Community Building Lauded by Experts

Vietnam's significant contributions to the building of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) community are being lauded by international experts. Beni Sukadis, Senior Coordinator at the Indonesian Institute for Defence and Strategic Studies (LESPERSSI), noted that Vietnam, as a "proactive and responsible member," has demonstrated its ability to build consensus, foster cooperation, and maintain balance amidst an increasingly complex geopolitical environment in the region. According to Sukadis, Vietnam plays a strategic role in maintaining ASEAN's cohesion and bridging diverse national interests, which is an essential element in promoting stability and cooperation within the region. Furthermore, a Malaysian scholar praised Vietnam as a driving force for the realization of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. Vietnam is considered to be playing a leading role in formulating and implementing concrete action plans for the achievement of this vision. While Vietnam's single-party system provides a certain stability in national governance and long-term policy planning, it constantly requires a balance in terms of coordination with the international community and the reflection of diverse opinions. As Vietnam continues its economic growth, its economic influence within ASEAN is also increasing, making it a key player in accelerating regional economic integration. In its relations with China, while economic ties are strong, security issues such as those in the South China Sea also pose challenges, and Vietnam's position as a mediator within ASEAN can impact the stability of the entire region. These expert opinions highlight Vietnam's growing prominence within the ASEAN framework, showcasing its contributions to the peace and prosperity of the entire region beyond that of a mere member state.
