The PNP noted that at least four rallies were monitored across Metro Manila: near the People Power Monument (10,000 participants); along the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) southbound near Connecticut Street (300 participants); Liwasang Bonifacio (300 participants); and the Edsa Shrine (250 participants). According to the PNP, it deployed 5,936 personnel at the People Power Monument, Edsa Shrine, Senate, Mendiola Peace Arch, Ayala Bridge, United States Embassy, Liwasang Bonifacio and other locations. “The PNP recognizes and respects the constitutional right of every Filipino to peacefully assemble and express their views,” it stressed. “Police personnel deployed on the ground have been instructed to exercise maximum tolerance, remain impartial, uphold human rights, and carry out their duties with professionalism and restraint,” it added.
