The Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, also known as Gus Irfan, has revealed that he has informed President Prabowo Subianto about the potential increase in Hajj costs for 2027. President Prabowo has instructed that efforts be made to ensure the burden on pilgrims is minimized. "We have conveyed the situation to him, but he has only nodded, not yet giving a specific response. However, he has instructed us to try not to burden the pilgrims, whatever the situation," Gus Irfan told reporters at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/7/2026). Gus Irfan pointed to the global situation, including the weakening Rupiah and rising world oil prices, which directly impact flight costs. He stated that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is working diligently to find solutions so that the potential increase in Hajj costs for 2027 does not burden the pilgrims. "Although the global pressure is immense, both from the dollar and rising oil prices that directly affect our flights, we are working hard to ensure that what our pilgrims pay later does not burden them," he said. Previously, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah proposed that the Hajj operational cost for the year 1448 Hijriah or 2027 AD be IDR 107,340,172.02 per pilgrim. This was conveyed during a working meeting with Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR). "Or an increase of IDR 19,930,806.57," added Irfan.
