In Bago Region, the Bago River and the Sittoung River in Madauk Township are approaching their respective danger levels, with only a few inches remaining, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology's announcement at 6:30 PM on July 29. The department has issued a warning for residents living near the riverbanks and in low-lying areas to exercise caution, as these rivers may reach their danger levels within the next 24 hours. Although rainfall in Bago City was minimal on July 29, and there was no rain until 7:30 PM, the river water level continued to rise. According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology's announcement at 6:30 PM on July 29, the Bago River had reached 866 centimeters, just about half a foot shy of its danger level of 880 centimeters. As the Bago River water level has been rising since the morning of July 29, some low-lying areas and valleys in Bago City, including certain wards and street sections, have experienced river water intrusion, with water depths exceeding 4 feet. Similarly, water has been flowing in from the stream between Ywathit and Kyaukyisu wards in Bago City. Relevant authorities are closely monitoring the river water conditions and flood situations and are continuing to carry out necessary flood prevention and rescue operations. In Madauk Township, Ngarlepin District, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology's announcement at 6:30 PM on July 29, the Sittoung River water level in Madauk Township has reached 1064 centimeters, just 8 centimeters (approximately 3 inches) below the danger level of 1070 centimeters for Madauk Township. As the Bago River and the Sittoung River in Madauk Township may reach their respective danger levels within the next 24 hours, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a warning and appeal for residents living near the riverbanks and in low-lying areas of Bago Township and Madauk Township to be prepared in advance and to evacuate in a timely manner if the river water rises.
