Vietnam Navigates AI Era Amidst Digital Transformation Challenges and Prospects

Vietnam is accelerating its digital transformation (DX) to prepare for the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). However, this path is fraught with challenges, including policy formulation, human resource development, technological gaps, and economic factors. The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) is demonstrating its commitment to supporting the nation's DX by proposing concrete solutions and sharing its experiences in AI adoption. Particular attention is being paid to building AI-ready platforms and addressing new technological and economic issues. International cooperation is also advancing, with agreements reached between central banks to exchange knowledge and experience in areas such as digital payment and settlement systems, monetary policy, macroeconomic monitoring, and financial literacy improvement. This indicates Vietnam's intention to deepen its integration into the global digital economy and accelerate domestic DX through international collaboration. Under its one-party system, government-led DX is a cornerstone of Vietnam's national development strategy. Maintaining and accelerating economic growth necessitates the adoption of the latest technologies and adaptation to associated societal changes. In its relationship with China, as supply chains diversify, Vietnam is increasingly establishing itself as a crucial link in Asian production and supply chains. The adoption of AI technology has the potential to further enhance this competitiveness, while also carrying risks such as widening technological disparities and impacts on domestic industries.
