Cambodia Discusses Logistics and Transport Improvements with EuroCham, Inspects Sihanoukville Port
Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol met with the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) to discuss improvements in the national transport and logistics sectors. Following the meeting, he led a site visit to the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port to assess infrastructure development and capacity for international trade.
On the morning of Monday, July 6, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and Chairman of the National Logistics Council, led a working meeting with the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham), headed by Mr. Tassilo Brinzer, President of EuroCham. The meeting focused on improving the national transport and logistics sectors. Attendees at the meeting included leaders and relevant officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Deputy Director General responsible for Administration and Management of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS), the Deputy Director General of the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia, representatives from the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway (PPSHV Expressway) company, representatives from Royal Railway PLC, members of EuroCham, and many other relevant technical officials. The meeting proceeded smoothly according to the planned agenda, with active discussions and exchanges of opinions on various indicators collected and analyzed by EuroCham, aimed at further improving the national transport and logistics sectors, particularly concerning import and export transportation. Representatives from transportation infrastructure service providers, including PPSHV Expressway and Royal Railway PLC, also provided opinions and exchanged views to enhance the efficiency of their existing transportation infrastructure utilization. In response, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated all the opinions and concerns raised by the EuroCham representatives. He also provided several important recommendations and guidance to address challenges and enhance the efficiency of the supply chain, with the goal of transforming Cambodia into a competitive logistics hub in the region. During the meeting, a representative from PAS presented PASNet, a mobile application developed in 2023 to provide information and facilitate operations for customers, cargo owners, sellers, and truck drivers involved in cargo transportation, covering container loading and unloading at PAS. In 2026, PASNet is being integrated with the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA), a customs data management system of the United Nations. Following the discussion meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister led all participants on a site visit and inspection of operations within the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, facilitated by the PAS administration. This on-site inspection aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the progress in technical infrastructure development and the practical capacity to respond to the growth in international trade volume.
