In a tragic incident in Chonburi province, east of Pattaya, a police officer fatally shot his wife, a teacher, inside a kindergarten on Wednesday. Authorities reported that Police Sub-Lieutenant Tasphong (name pseudonym) allegedly fired his weapon at 48-year-old Phailin in a first-floor hallway at Nong Pla Lai Municipal Kindergarten in the Banglamung district. Fortunately, all 44 pupils, three teachers, and three staff members were safely evacuated and were unharmed. Following the incident, Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong ordered the immediate temporary closure of the school and dispatched a mental health team to provide assistance to the children and staff. The suspect, the police officer, is currently holed up in his residence. Authorities have brought in relatives, including his youngest son, to negotiate his surrender. The suspect has not responded from inside the house, and police are continuing efforts to persuade him to give himself up. Investigators are looking into the motive behind the attack. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.
