Samdech Techo also quoted Ms. Jolie's message, stating: "Over the past year, the conflict that erupted along Cambodia's border has caused many people to lose their sense of stability and security. Currently, nearly 30,000 people are still unable to return to their homes. Cambodia has always been a special country for me and my family. This is where my son was born, this is our home, and for the past 20 years, we have been working with teams in communities on conservation and community development. The Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation is headquartered in the border area, the very place where the border conflict erupted. I am honored to have become close friends with my neighbors and the foundation's team as we have worked together to clear mines and develop the area. When the conflict erupted last year, we evacuated our staff and their families, and these painful experiences have shown that conflict can erupt again at any moment. I love this country (Cambodia) and its strong, warm, and friendly people. While we are truly happy to resume our work to protect the land and support community well-being and livelihoods, my heart is with all those who are waiting to return to their homes.
