AI Summary

Vietnam's leading fertilizer company, PVCFC, has announced its long-term strategy until 2050, focusing on deepening its integration into the agricultural value chain through three pillars: fertilizers, industrial gases & chemicals, and biotechnology & post-harvest processing. This marks a significant growth strategy for the company within Vietnam's agricultural sector.

PVCFC (Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation) has unveiled its long-term strategy, aiming to deepen its integration into the agricultural value chain by 2050. The strategy focuses on three core pillars: fertilizers, industrial gases & chemicals, and biotechnology & post-harvest processing. Announced at the company's extraordinary general meeting of shareholders for 2026, held in Ca Mau on September 23, Chairman Van Tien Thanh stated that PVCFC is transitioning from a fertilizer manufacturer to a provider of solutions across the agricultural value chain. The company aims to become a leading integrated agricultural and biotechnology enterprise in the region by 2050, actively participating in sustainable agricultural value chains in Vietnam and neighboring markets through enhanced technological applications and expansion into new revenue streams. To support this strategic shift, shareholders approved amendments to the gas purchase agreement (No. 3918/HĐ-DKVN) between PVCFC and Petrovietnam Gas (PV GAS). This amendment includes gas supply from the Nam Du - U Minh field, ensuring a stable and long-term supply of raw materials for the urea production at the Ca Mau fertilizer plant. The company will also add industrial gas manufacturing and trading to its business portfolio, aligning with the industrial gas production and business project at the Ca Mau fertilizer plant. Additionally, logistics services related to transportation will be incorporated, establishing a legal framework for organizing and developing logistics to support the supply chain. PVCFC's governance system will also be adjusted to align with Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) practices. These changes aim to clarify shareholder rights, enhance the roles and responsibilities of the board of directors, strengthen risk management, and improve oversight of sustainable development issues and information transparency. This will provide a suitable foundation as PVCFC's scale, operational scope, and value chain continue to expand. Pham Van Phong (born 1977, PhD in Chemical Engineering, Master of Petrochemical Engineering) was elected as a new member of the PVCFC Board of Directors for the 2026-2031 term. Tran Hong Nam, a member of Petrovietnam's Board of Members, reported that PVCFC's revenue for the first eight months of the year increased by over 30%, and profits grew by 50% compared to the same period in 2025. He commended the company for expanding its product portfolio, developing markets, and researching long-term growth avenues. Petrovietnam will continue to support PVCFC in securing gas supplies and promoting new field development projects. The group also urged PVCFC to increase investment in science, technology, and innovation, alongside product development and international market expansion. By 2030, PVCFC targets international revenue to account for 30% of its total revenue, with new products contributing 60%. Source: VnExpress
