Prabowo to Inaugurate 1,400 Village Electrification Sites Soon, Minister Confirms

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia announced that President-elect Prabowo Subianto will soon inaugurate the village electrification program in 1,400 locations that were completed by 2025, with the inauguration scheduled before August 14, 2026. The plan was discussed in a limited meeting with President-elect Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, according to Minister Bahlil. The village electrification program is part of the government's efforts to expand electricity access to areas that are still underserved. "Alhamdulillah, in 2025, the program will be completed for approximately 1,400 more (villages), which will be inaugurated by the President," Bahlil stated, as quoted by ANTARA on Tuesday (July 28). Indonesia still has around 11,000 villages that do not have access to electricity. Of these, over 1,400 villages targeted by the 2025 program have completed their work and are ready for operation. Regarding funding, Bahlil assured that there are no budgetary constraints for the village electrification program. He emphasized that the project to be inaugurated by President-elect Prabowo is a 2025 program whose work has been completed, thus the focus is on inauguration rather than budget discussions. The government has also prepared a budget to continue the village electrification program in 2026 and 2027, with the current focus on field implementation. "The 2026-2027 budget is also available. So, there is no issue regarding the budget; it's now about implementation. I repeat, what I reported earlier that will be inaugurated is the 2025 program that has been completed," he added.
