Demand for fairness regarding the prosecution of 4 women accused of disturbing passengers on a train

There are discussions and calls for fairness regarding the prosecution of four women from the Pyu-ma-na region, who are accused of disturbing passengers on a train. It is being reported by train passengers on social media that on July 20, four women on the DEMU train traveling from Yangon to Mandalay, and on July 23, a group of 60 people led by Daw Myat Thann on the DEMU train traveling from Mawlamyine to Yangon, caused disturbances and discomfort to the public. Currently, the interim government has announced that four women who violated regulations on the DEMU express train on July 20 have been prosecuted under Section 88 (a) of the Railway Transportation Business Law. Furthermore, Ma Yaminn Hla Win, a well-known sports coach on social media, wrote that the group led by Daw Myat Thann purchased all 60 tickets for three train carriages, and a women's sports team was traveling with them. On July 20, the four women who were traveling in the first-class carriage (1) of the No. 3 Up train, Yangon – Mandalay DEMU express, seats 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B, were arrested on the evening of July 23, accused of violating regulations. These four women, residents of Pyu-ma-na town, have been charged under Section 88 (a) of the Railway Transportation Business Law, which stipulates that if found guilty, they will face a penalty of imprisonment not exceeding three months, or a fine of at least 10,000 kyats to a maximum of 100,000 kyats, or both penalties. It has been announced that these four women spoke loudly to disturb the public, spat betel juice mixed with lime onto the seat covers, and left containers of betel juice carelessly on the train. Section 83 of the Railway Transportation Business Law includes subsections (a) to (z). Subsection (e) states that one must not act or speak in a way that offends others on the train or cause disturbance. Emergency equipment on the train must not be used without a valid reason. Subsection (b) states that one must not interfere with or damage the train's communication system and equipment. One must not jump onto the train as it departs or jump off before it stops. One must not ride on the train's roof, steps, between carriages, or in unauthorized areas. Furthermore, Section 88 stipulates that any person found guilty of violating any of the prohibitions listed in subsections (a) to (z) of Section 83 shall be punished with imprisonment not exceeding three months, or a fine of at least 10,000 kyats to a maximum of 100,000 kyats, or both penalties.
