A series of forest fires have broken out in Vietnam's central Quang Tri province. Border guards, alongside military and local residents, are actively working to contain and extinguish the blazes, exacerbated by prolonged heat and strong winds.

A series of forest fires have erupted in Vietnam's central Quang Tri province, prompting the Border Guard force to collaborate with local residents and relevant agencies in suppression efforts. Around noon on July 19, the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command announced that its forces, in coordination with agencies and local communities, had successfully contained fires near their garrisons. Earlier, at 6:30 AM the same day, a forest fire broke out in Bao Ninh 3 residential area, Dong Hoi city. Upon receiving the report, the Nhat Le Border Guard Station dispatched a task force led by its Deputy Station Chief, working alongside military, police, and local authorities. After more than an hour of containment and firefighting, the blaze was largely under control. This marked the second forest fire in Bao Ninh within two days. Previously, on the afternoon of July 18, a forest fire was reported in Quyet Thang village, Bac Trach commune. The 1st Training-Mobile Battalion under the Provincial Border Guard Command mobilized 30 officers and soldiers, led by the Battalion Commander, to cooperate with functional forces, local authorities, and residents in extinguishing the fire. The blaze was put out by 11 PM that same day. However, on the morning of July 19, small fires reignited in several areas. The 1st Training-Mobile Battalion and Ly Hoa Border Guard Station continued to deploy forces to assist in firefighting. By 10:30 AM, the fires were completely extinguished. Prolonged hot weather combined with strong southwesterly winds in recent days has significantly increased the risk of fires in coastal protective forests. The Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command has directed its units stationed in the area to maintain adequate personnel and equipment for timely response to forest fires. Thanks to these proactive measures, the fires were quickly brought under control, preventing widespread blazes and minimizing damage.
