Residents assisted to evacuate due to flood in Shwekyin and Hpa-lin

The Myanmar Fire Brigade announced that residents from households in Shwekyin City, Bago Region, and Hpa-lin City, Mon State, were assisted in evacuating to safer areas due to rising river levels caused by heavy rainfall. Around 9:30 AM on July 11, due to the rising water level of the Hpa-lin River, members of the Hpa-lin Township Fire Station, along with relevant organizations, collaborated to assist households in low-lying areas of Kantharyar Ward in Hpa-lin City in evacuating to flood-free locations. Similarly, around 1:00 PM on July 11, heavy rainfall in Shwekyin Township caused the Shwekyin stream's water level to rise, resulting in water entering residential homes in the Nyaungwine Ward. It is reported that due to this flooding, members of the Shwekyin Township Fire Station, along with relevant organizations, collaborated to assist households in that ward in evacuating to flood-free areas. According to the announcement released by the Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology at 8:00 AM on July 11, the Shwekyin River's water level is currently more than 1 foot above the warning level for Shwekyin City, and it is predicted to rise by about 0.5 feet within the next 24 hours, potentially remaining above the warning level for Shwekyin City. Furthermore, it has been announced that the Hpa-lin River's water level may also exceed the warning level within the next 24 hours.
