Ninh Thuan Province Enhances Evacuation and Infrastructure Protection Against Rockfalls

In Vietnam's south-central Ninh Thuan Province, measures are being strengthened to ensure the safety of local residents and protect infrastructure amid increasing risks of rockfalls. The provincial authorities recognize that heavy rainfall, particularly during the rainy season, heightens the risk of rockfalls and are developing and implementing comprehensive plans to address this. These plans include preparing evacuation routes to facilitate the early evacuation of residents living in high-risk areas and providing support for their lives at evacuation sites. Furthermore, to prevent critical infrastructure such as roads and public facilities from being damaged by rockfalls, monitoring systems are being enhanced, and reinforcement work is being carried out as necessary. Public awareness campaigns are also being conducted to improve residents' ability to detect dangers and encourage appropriate actions during emergencies. Across Vietnam, in mountainous and coastal regions in particular, the risk of landslides and rockfalls is increasing due to extreme weather events related to climate change and changes in ground conditions resulting from development. Ninh Thuan Province's initiatives are noteworthy as part of the national response to these challenges.
