Ho Chi Minh City Merges Transport Hospital into Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment Center

Ho Chi Minh City has decided to merge the Transport Hospital (Bệnh viện Giao thông vận tải) into the Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment Center (Bệnh viện Phục hồi chức năng - Điều trị bệnh nghề nghiệp), effective October 1st. Following this decision, the Transport Hospital will cease its operations as an independent entity. According to the decision by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the entire organizational structure, personnel, facilities, equipment, finances, assets, and all related rights and obligations of the Transport Hospital will be transferred to the Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment Center. The functions of medical examination and treatment, management and treatment of occupational diseases, and specialized health check-ups for the transport sector will also be handed over. Separately, tasks related to occupational environmental monitoring, training of hygiene staff, disease prevention, and occupational health certification will be transferred to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (Trung tâm Kiểm soát bệnh tật TP HCM). The Transport Hospital's facilities are located at 72/3 Trần Quốc Toản and 72/5 GH Trần Quốc Toản in Xuân Hòa ward, with a clinic at 136 Cách Mạng Tháng Tám in Nhiêu Lộc ward. Its predecessor was Railway Hospital II, established in 1976, and it was renamed the Transport Hospital Ho Chi Minh City in 2008. In October 2015, the Department of Transport Medicine under the Ministry of Construction transferred the hospital to the management of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, with the Department of Health acting as the receiving authority. At that time, the hospital's leadership proposed to be organized as the second facility of the Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment Center. The Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment Center was established in 1977 as a specialized hospital under the Department of Health, focusing on rehabilitation and occupational disease treatment. After the merger, the center will operate from its main headquarters at 313 Âu Dương Lân, Chánh Hưng ward, along with the three facilities inherited from the Transport Hospital Ho Chi Minh City.
