Cambodia's SDF Signs Strategic Partnership with 4 Major Industry Associations to Boost Skills Development
Cambodia's Skills Development Fund (SDF) has signed strategic partnerships with four major industry associations – Logistics, Automotive, Cashew, and Electronics & Technology – to drive skills development aligned with national industrial needs. The Skills Development Fund (SDF) of Cambodia has signed strategic partnership agreements with four major industry associations to boost skills development that meets industrial demands within the country. The partnerships were established with the Cambodia Logistics Association (CLA), the Cambodia Automotive Industry Federation (CAIF), the Cashew Association of Cambodia (CAC), and the Cambodia Electronics and Technology Association (CETA). The aim is to strengthen cooperation between the government and the private sector in developing high-quality human resources that directly address the actual needs of the labor market and industrial sectors. Mr. Ki Sokkim, Executive Director of SDF, highlighted that this partnership will focus on three key areas: First, identifying specific skill requirements across sectors to enhance production. Second, implementing the SDF operational model of "Co-Design, Co-Invest & Co-Own" for skills development. Third, fostering Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to promote investment, technology transfer, and the creation of skilled employment. SDF will work closely with associations and industries to develop skill frameworks and training programs for each sector. To date, SDF has supported skills training for approximately 93,000 trainees. The results show a graduation rate of 96%, an employment rate of 88%, employer satisfaction at 85%, and 89% of enterprises reporting increased labor productivity. This new partnership is a testament to moving forward together with proactiveness and high responsibility to ensure the development of high-quality human resources that meet practical industrial needs. At the ceremony, H.E. Dr. Chan Phal, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Chairman of the SDF Board of Trustees, expressed strong confidence that this strategic partnership will serve as a solid foundation for developing a skilled workforce, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the private sector and the nation, in line with the government's "Pentagonal Strategy." The significant ceremony was presided over by H.E. Dr. Chan Phal and H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training and Vice Chairman of the SDF Board of Trustees. Approximately 120 guests, including representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the French Development Agency (AFD), were in attendance.
