Cambodian Ministry of Information Urges Provincial Media to Combat Misinformation and Enhance Proactive Reporting

The Ministry of Information has strongly urged the Pailin Provincial Information Department to remain vigilant against misinformation and social pollution under all circumstances. The ministry's spokesperson stated that fake news and social poisoning can occur at any moment, necessitating constant attention. He emphasized the importance of quickly grasping the situation and always being prepared. This directive was issued during an orientation meeting on "Information and Public Opinion Work" held on the afternoon of July 16, 2026, for officials of the Pailin Provincial Information Department. The meeting was attended by Chea Lise, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Information and head of the Pailin Provincial Information Department, along with numerous department officials. Representing Minister of Information Net Pheaktra, Tep Asnarith encouraged the Pailin Provincial Information Department officials to proactively and widely disseminate truthful information about the province's infrastructure development and tourism potential through the department's website and official social media channels. While highly commending the Pailin Provincial Information Department's work, the spokesperson instructed them to strengthen cooperation with domestic and international journalists to ensure the provision of professional and credible accurate information. Timely and comprehensive information from the authorities not only facilitates journalists' work but also helps prevent the occurrence of legal issues arising from inaccurate reporting. Undersecretary Chea Lise also called for enhanced information dissemination by strengthening the production of videos on tourism, history, and literature to promote the province's potential. Nip Bory, Director of the Pailin Provincial Information Department, accepted the ministry leadership's recommendations and pledged to translate them into improved work outcomes. He believes this orientation meeting will enhance the knowledge and skills of officials, thereby increasing work efficiency and enabling a swift and timely response to the actual situation in Pailin province.
