NA Chairman Urges Stronger Parliamentary and Economic Diplomacy

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man has affirmed the NA's consistent support for the diplomatic sector. He directed efforts to proactively improve the legal framework governing foreign affairs, international treaties and agreements, as well as the operations of Vietnamese representative missions abroad. Attention will also be paid to policies and working conditions for officials serving overseas. This statement was made in the context of high regard for the diplomatic sector's contributions, as highlighted by the General Secretary of the Communist Party Central Committee and President, and the Prime Minister. The 33rd Diplomatic Conference, in particular, stressed the imperative of safeguarding national interests to the fullest extent. As a socialist republic, Vietnam prioritizes economic growth while maintaining its political system. Consequently, fostering favorable external conditions for development through robust international relations is crucial. The NA aims to contribute to this objective by strengthening the legal foundations that support diplomatic activities. In its relations with China, Vietnam navigates sensitive issues such as the South China Sea through diplomacy centered on dialogue and cooperation, while steadfastly defending its national interests. Stable relationships with major powers, including China, are vital for economic expansion, and the NA's support for diplomacy is a key component of this strategy. Chairman Man's directives signal Vietnam's increasing emphasis on the role of diplomacy in balancing domestic economic development with its growing influence on the international stage.
