Cambodian Interior Minister Offers Condolences on Passing of Former Official's Mother
Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sar Sokha, has extended deep condolences following the passing of Mrs. Sun Sophal, mother of a former high-ranking official. Mrs. Sun Sophal died at the age of 71, remembered for her dedication to the nation and its people.
Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sar Sokha, has sent a letter of condolence to Lieutenant Colonel Teng Chamrountharath and his wife, along with their family, following the passing of Mrs. Sun Sophal, who was Lieutenant Colonel Teng Chamrountharath's mother. According to the condolence letter, Mrs. Sun Sophal passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 5:15 AM at the age of 71 due to illness. Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha expressed profound sorrow and shock at the news of Mrs. Sun Sophal's death. He, along with his family, the leadership, civil officials, prison officials, and national police officers of the Ministry of Interior, extended their deepest sympathies to Lieutenant Colonel Teng Chamrountharath, his wife, and their family. The letter described Mrs. Sun Sophal not only as a "deeply cherished mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother to her children, grandchildren, and family" but also as an "outstanding senior official who dedicated her physical strength, intellect, and spirit to actively working for the supreme national interest of the motherland and the people." Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha prayed for the soul of Mrs. Sun Sophal to find eternal peace and conveyed his deepest condolences to Lieutenant Colonel Teng Chamrountharath, his wife, and their family.
